FAI Youth Cup 3rd Round
Listowel Celtic 2 v 3 St. Brendan’s Park FC
Our youth team advanced to the fourth round of the cup after coming from behind twice to clinch a narrow win.
Listowel drew first blood against the run of play as we had the lions share of possession but twenty two minutes in Listowel broke with pace on the counter attack and took a shock lead .We were level six minutes later when Adam Ward split Celtics defense and Conor O’Brien shot low under the advancing keeper. Jordan Barry and Aaron Ward should have put their team ahead before the break but fluffed their lines. We dominated the second half and should have taken the lead with only a minute gone in second period when Jordan Barry broke thru but missed with only the keeper to beat. Listowel again grabbed a shock lead in the sixty fifth minute with a great strike from thirty yards right in the top angle of the goals.Park stayed patient with JR Tshikato and James Sheehan creating chances for us and the equaliser came from a corner with JR finding Shane Jordan at the front post and he rifled his shot into roof of the Listowel net,we had Listowel pinned back in their final third and in the eighty fourth minute Conor O’Brien beat the offside trap and was taken down by the Listowel keeper, the ref pointed to the penalty spot,Parks JR Tshikato stepped forward and dispatched the spot kick into the top corner and send his team into the fourth round.
Best for Park ; James Sheehan – JR Tshikato – Shane Jordan – Andrew Breen
Man of Match ; Conor O’Brien
