The game got under way on a sunny saturday afternoon on Killarney Athletic’s pitch, with Park straight on the attack with Conor hitting the side netting. we mount another attack which sees Dean shoot wide, Mike heads a ball forward to conor he puts the ball out wide on the wing to Josh who runs forward and crosses into Conor who shoots wide.
James takes a free kick outside the 18 yard box and it hits the crossbar and rebounds out and Shane blasts it into the back of the net 0-1 Park. John takes a corner, there is a scramble in the box but the shot goes wide. Kenmare mount an attack and take the ball down the wing it is then passed inside but the shot is saved by David the Park keeper. Park on the attack again and Shane takes a shot which hits the underneath of the crossbar and John shoots the rebound but it goes wide. Kenmare get a corner and it swings into the six yard box and Shane heads it out but a Kenmare player shoots and the ball goes over the head of the Park keeper 1-1 Aaron takes the ball forward he puts it through to John to Conor but he shoots wide.
Second half gets under way and Park go on the attack again Dean kicking the ball down the wing to Aaron who passes into Conor he shoots but the keeper saves. Conor puts a ball into Jamal who puts it through to Shane and he shoots but it is put out for a corner John takes the corner and after a scuffle in the box the ball drops out to Aaron who blasts it into the back of the net 1-2 the Park .Nemanja gets a ball passed through from Dylan he turns and crosses the ball to Conor but is given offside. Kenmare take the free kick and send the ball up the field it is passed out to the wing and he runs forward and takes a shot from about 30 yards out and it goes into the top right hand corner of the net past the outstretched Park keeper 2-2 . Extra Time gets under way Dylan takes a shot but the keeper saves, park keep up the pressure but shot after shot go wide,then Kenmare break and pass the ball across the field they pass it out to the winger who rounds the park back and slots it across the six yard box and the forward runs in and puts it in the back of net 3-2 Kenmare.
Park come forward again and get a free kick and Dylan heads it wide, Nemanja takes a corner to Aaron who shoots but the keeper saves it. Kenmare get a corner the ball comes across the six yard box and after a couple of failed attempts to clear it falls to a Kenmare player who slots it past the keeper into the net 4-2 Kenmare final score.
Although we were beaten in extra time it was a great performance by the Park team, and we were unlucky not to have won but it did not go our way ,the whole team played as a unit and every player gave 100% and we could ask for nothing more . Dave and myself are pleased with the way the season has gone and hope that next season we will go one better and win the league and the cup or shield , but overall it has brought the team together and some players have progressed 100% from the start of the season and we hope that you will all be back again.
