Anyone up at the Park on Saturday morning last witnessed a six goal thriller between two well matched sides. Mind you with 20 – 25 minutes left in the game a draw seemed highly unlikely .
The first half was full of good football with the Park having the best of the play. Cian Brosnan down the left wing was giving the opposing defenders a torrid time and he was unlucky when striking the upright mid way through the half. He did however, turn provider when his pinpoint free kick on the left found Ryan Guerin, who powered an unstoppable header to the roof of the net.1-0 to the Park at half time was a fair reflection of the half.

The second half opened with the Park totally dominant. Not long after the restart, some great work from Sean Kedzierski provided an opening for Daragh Capliss, who true to form, swept a terrific left foot shot inside the post. A third followed within 10 minutes, John O’Connor on the left crossing superbly to Cian Brosnan, who unmarked, headed home.

At this point, it looked like more goals would follow. However, Killarney Celtic responded superbly, scoring themselves within 2 minutes of the Park’s third. This goal gave Celtic great encouragement and  they went on to dominate most of the remainder of the game. A defensive error led to Celtics second with 15 minutes to go and Celtic took advantage of a tiring Park side by completing the comeback with less than 5 minutes remaining. Indeed, it was Killarney Celtic who looked more likely to increase their tally when the referee brought proceedings to a close.

So 3-3 it finished and two important points dropped by the Park lads who will be disappointed to have surrendered a three goal advantage. However, they are learning all the time and will look forward to the remainder of the league campaign, where they are still very much in contention.

Man of the Match: Ryan Guerin.
