The Park lads were hosts to Camp Juniors over the weekend and were looking to get back to winning ways, the conditions underfoot may have been a leveller but fair play to the lads they showed their dominance by controlling the game in all sectors taking max. points with a comfortable win., despite a valliant effort from the visitors.
1st Half
With slippery conditions underfoot, a pass and move style football might not be possible but fair play to both sides as they tried to play a passing brand of soccer despite the conditions with the park lads dominating the early exchange and were soon on top, 3 mins in and they were rewarded with a fine strike from Sean to go 1-0, the park lads were now in the zone and were dominant in all sectors of the pitch particularly in the middle and final thirds, the visitors battled especially upfront to make the park defence work hard not to leak a goal.
On the 10 min mark Sean struck again to make it 2-0, the next 15 min spell closed the game out with the park showing complete dominance and clinical finishing with Sean,Colin, Conor and Mervin all scoring to reach the break 9-0.
2nd Half
The 2nd half began in a simillar fashion as the 1st with the park lads creating further chances and on the 33rd minute Conor got his second to make it 10-0, 2 mins later and Mervin got the goal of the day taking a touch with his left and volleying with the outside of the right boot to the top corner, definetly a contender for goal of the season. Camp were unlucky not to get a goal with the Park defence at sea the conditions stopped the ball crossing the line and Tide cleared to deny the visitors a deserved goal.
It took 15 mins before the park would strike again with Sean and Mervin bagging a goal each, Camp completed the scoring with a fine strike of their own from a 25 yard free to the top corner on the stroke of full time.
A good confidence booster but the next game for the lads will be a tough encounter in the Round 32 of the Nat. Cup away to Cork side Midelton FC.
