Our U10’s welcomed Killarney Celtic to Christy Leahy Park yesterday afternoon for a mini-blitz.
Both clubs had 3 teams raring to go and play plenty of football was played throughout.
Dave’s group played ten-v-ten on the all weather pitch against a very good and very strong Killarney Celtic team with nothing between the two sides. Warren ref’ed the three games of 20 minutes aside with two no score draws and one 3 all draw.
Andrew Sucaci was fanastic in between the posts and the back three of Jack Bourke, Greg Scanlon and Elliot Lynch would do a Schoolboys League team proud with their control on the ball.
The midfield of Nathan Gleeson, Rhys Keane and Luke Chester passed and moved like a certain team from Catalonia, while Jordan Mason, Nathan Holden and Darragh Moriarty caused the Celtic defence constant trouble.
We held this formation for the first two 20 minute games with a constant roll-on roll-off player. The final 20 minute game saw our midfield three move to defence while the others rotated between midfield and up-front which opened up the game a bit resulting in the goalfest at the end in which Darragh Moriarty scored a beauty and his Mom celebrated as if Darragh had won the Lotto!!
A great overall team performance against Celtic, some of which are already playing U11 Schoolboys and a massive improvement on the trip to Listowel.
A big thank you to Warren for standing into the middle and ref’ing the games.
Padraig’s group also played very well, scoring 6 goals and conceding just 4. The goal scorers were Conor O’ Sullivan (3), Brian Cassidy (2) and Thomas Scally (1). Conor got a hat-trick in the second game and himself and Brian were our top two players with Niall in goals performing heroics in the first game. Another Conor, this time in defence, also played very well.
Well done to all three teams.
