A win is a win but the performance was well below what the team can deliver. The opening 25 minutes were very sloppy from a Park point of view . Listowel put pressure on us and we failed to get any passing together.
We took the lead in the 29th Minute when Mark O’ Sullivan headed home an Adrian Quirke cross. Listowel Should have equalised straight away when a ball over the top saw our defence stop but the striker rolled the ball passed the keeper and hit the post.
For the remainder of the half we kept good possesion of the ball and controlled the game to half time.
Early in the second half we were awarded a penalty for hand ball after a good run and cross by Fergal Maunsell. David Conway converted the penalty for his 2nd goal of the season.
The game was made safe after 65 minutes when David Clifford scored from close range. In the remaining 25 minutes we created 6 clear goal scoring chances and if the opposition was harder we might have paid for being so wasteful in front of goals.
So now it’s onto the Munster Junior Area cup final which at the moment is fixed for the weekend of the 18th/19th December.
The team will have to be more clinical and hard working in future games if they want to achieve success.
