Congratulations to Ryan Downey who has signed for Cork City U-19 League of Ireland team who last season season did the League and Cup double . Ryan first played with the club when he was aged 8 and has made his way up through the ranks working tirelesly to better himself . Ryan was also a member of the Kerry Emerging Talent Programme under the guidance of Darren Ahern from the FAI for a number of years . Ryan also represented Kerry at many schoolboy’s level’s along with playing for the Kerry Youth team for the past two season’s which he also Captained last season .
Last season saw Ryan break into the senior “A” team while still only being a youth player . While playing with the Youths team he captained them to a Kerry League and Cup double . The step up to the senior level didnt phase him what so ever as he quickly made the left back position his own . He stood out through out the season not only in Kerry but also in the Munster Champions Trophy and the FAI Junior Cup where the oposition were always amazed by his talents form someone so young .
Cork City will start the 2013-14 season with a home game against Bray Wanderers on the 18th of August at 2.00pm at Bishopstown , Cork . This will be a very exciting time for Ryan and everyone at the club wishes him the very best of luck in his new adventure .
