JD leaves a void that will never be filled
At 5.20 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 John Dowling (JD) passed from this life leaving a void that will never be filled. He is survived by his loving wife Gaye, daughter Niamh, sons Tomas and Kieran, grandson Conor, sisters Mary and Catherine and brothers Elisha and Damien and Many friends.
As well as being a family man JD was a fantastic club man as hundreds of past players of St. Brendan’s Park FC will testify to. For those of us who were members of the 1974/75/76 St. Brendan’s Park FC squads we have many treasured memories of JD who always had a smile on his face. To the players lucky enough to have played with JD in that era they will remember him as always giving one hundred per cent. He was never one to carry a grudge and he was a great believer of what happened on the field stayed on the field. For many years he organised trips to Irish International Soccer matches that were played in Lansdowne Road, now known as the Aviva Stadium.
We have lost a great friend – may he rest in peace.
