Despite missing six regular squad players the 17’s put on a very impressive display to go into the next round of the FAI Umbro Cup .Indeed, the lads that stepped up today have given the management team a huge problem with future team selection .Robbie Dinnan in goal looked very comfortable , John Carroll and Tommy Lynch at full back were both in tremendous form and Emanuel Abubaker in the centre of midfield didn’t put a foot wrong all game .Andrew Phillips who came on for the last 20 minutes also acquitted himself very well .
Park started brightly and controlled most of the first half and more composed finishing from Stefan Okanbur , Paddy Collins and Jesse Stafford-Lacey would have seen them well in front . Moneypoint , although having little of the possession nearly went ahead and but for a goal line clearance from John Carroll would have taken the lead .To their credit the lads kept creating chances and finally took the lead when James Duggan curled home a tremendous free kick from just outside the box .
Park should have had a chance to extend the lead when the same player was brought down in the area but strangely the referee waved play on . Park relieved some of the pressure when after a glorious move in midfield James Duggan sent in a tremendous cross which Stefan Okanbur met with a glorious header to give the keeper no chance .
The tie was finally settled when Ryan Dolan cut in from the right hand side and unleashed a scorching shot with his left foot which the keeper was unable to stop due to its power .
All in all , a very good performance , perhaps a little wasteful in the final third , but still playing some lovely flowing football .
