A tremendous team performance against a good Newcastlewest team saw the Youth team through to the next round of the FAI Cup . Even at this early stage of the season it will take a huge performance for the lads to match this . Despite being denied a blatant penalty after two minutes and missing several chances early on, Park went ahead with a superb volley from Adam O’Rourke after a great cross by Sean Dukes .Jesse O’Sullivan made it 2-0 from the penalty spot and just before half time Conor Hurley pulled off a great save to keep Park ahead by two goals .
Ironically, despite all the patient football played in the first 45 mins Park went 3-0 up when Ryan Dolan latched on to a long kick straight from the keeper and calmly slotted the ball home .To their enormous credit Newcastlewest responded with a goal from a free kick that was as good a strike as you will ever see at any level . Park eventually killed off the game with a second goal scored by Adam O’ Rourke and a tremendous finish from outside the box by James Duggan .
The back five of Conor Hurley ,Fion Coakley , Roman Laucher , Sean Kelliher and Sean Dukes were superb throughout the entire game . Sean Kelliher probably had his best game ever in a Park shirt .In the middle of the park Ryan O Carroll and Paddy Collins worked hard and dictated much of the game . Ahead of them Ryan Dolan , Adam O Rourke and James Duggan all made claims for man of the match . Jesse O’Sullivan worked tirelessly up front and on another day would have had a hat full .Adam Barrett and Dwyer Tobin both performed well when called into service .
A very impressive team performance all round from the Park against a very good Newcastlewest side .
