U16’s Crowned Premier League Champions .
Park 16’s made sure of the league title with a convincing win over a very direct Listowel side. The first half saw a distinct difference in styles with Park completing many passes without threatening enough and Celtic getting the ball forward quickly from back to front .Dale Mulvihill and Colin Griffin dealt well with the ariel threat from Celtic and this eventually provided the platform for Park to pass their way to a terrific opening goal 25 minutes into the game.
Sean Dukes, Paddy Collins and Ferdia O Brien exchanged passes before setting Ryan Dolan free to provide a fantastic cross which was met on the volley by James Duggan to fire into the roof of the net . It was probably the best team goal the lads have scored this season. At half time the 1-0 score line meant Celtic were well in the contest .
The second half started well for Park and James Duggan notched his second of the night following good work from Jesse Stafford Lacey and Sean Kelliher . Celtic deservedly reduced the deficit from the penalty spot and could have equalised but for a great save from Jack Carmody between the posts. A freak goal direct from a corner from Jesse made it 3-1 and further goals from Paudie Griffin, James Duggan to complete his hat-trick and a goal against his old club from Dale Mulvihill made it a final score of 6-1 .
Feargal O Donoghue ,back from injury came on slotted in straight away to the pace of the game and both Gary Nolan and Morrough Connelly came on and played well.Shane McLoughlin ,Sean Fitzmaurice and Jamie Clifford all missed the game through injury and we wish them all a speedy recovery.
Congratulations to all the players involved for winning the league and more importantly proving that you can have success by playing a passing style of football. Match report by T.Collins .
