Park U-15 were beaten for the 1st time this season as we lost 1-0 away in the 3rd round of the national cup to last years beaten finalists Herbertstown.
In what was a tight game in which we started well and should have been at least a goal to the good at half time.. The best chance of the half broke to Dylan McCarthy who’s shot went just wide from 12 yards after good build up play from Ferdia and Fergal.. We pushed on from there and created another chance after great interplay between Dylan Jesse Fergal and Ferdia the ball broke to Ferdia on the edge of the box who skipped passed his man and his placed effort went agonizingly wide.. We kept at it and were unlucky at the end of the half when Karl Mullins went close at the back post from a corner.. 0-0 at half time and we were looking the likely winners.
The 2nd half started and we kept the pressure on but as the half went on you could see the players started to tire on what was a draining pitch.. The goal came and it went against us a suspect decision from the referee as he awarded a penalty against Emmanuel when the ball hit his hand from point-blank range.. Goalkeeper Conor was very unlucky as he guessed correctly tipped the ball onto the post but the ball squirmed past the line. With 15mins left the players kept the work rate up the breakthrough for us just wouldn’t come. A snapshot from Danny Brosnan was the best we could offer and the game ended with a defeat for our boys.
All in all a great performance without the reward but now it’s time to turn our attention to the league where we still have a great chance to win silverware..
