Park 7 Killarney Celtic 1
Played in the KDL as there was questions about the weather, it was an all Kerry battle to go see who would go through to the last 32 of the SFAI National Cup.
Park were slow to settle but once they got the breakthrough after 19 minutes the issue was never in doubt. Colin Doody, Cian O’Neill and Messiah Chirwa all combined to open up Killarney Celtic and provide Cianan Cooney with a simple tap in. Doody forced a good save from the keeper minutes later and seven minutes later he would score a really fine goal after great work by Cooney and Chirwa. Sandwiched between Doody’s efforts was an excellent finish by Chirwa who had been put through once again by Cooney.
The second half started with Cillian Murphy providing an instinctive finish from close in, after good work by Samuel Aladesanusi and Sean O’Connor, to make it four nil. Murphy then combined with a busy and productive David Feeley to put Cooney through and although he still had work to do he finished clinically.
Celtic had very few chances during the game but they did force one save from a long distance shot from Liam Carmody.
Cooney rounded off his hat trick nine minutes later before Chirwa finished the Park scoring for the day with his second.
The Killarney lads stuck to their task and got a consolation with the last kick of the game.
It’s away now to Villa FC in the last 32. That game is scheduled for the last weekend in January.
