In spite of a blustery wind both teams played some good football. Although we were missing some regulars we started very well against the wind and had our opponents under pressure with Shane and Jessie doing well on the wings.
It was from a flowing move down the left that Jessie found Padraig with a lovely through ball and he finished coolly to the bottom corner.
Fenit are doing well this year and were causing us problems when they played the long ball into our box. To be fair Colin and Calvin did very well and cleared to the full backs John and Chris to start our attacks down the wings. We led 1 nil
at the half time break although it should have been more when Murrough scored a beauty after a great move but was denied after it was deemed the ball had crossed the end line for a goal kick.
With the wind at our backs we were well on top in the second half and created some excellent opportunities with Gary to the fore in the middle of the park. We scored a second when our free kick specialist hit a beauty to the top corner after earlier hitting the crossbar with a similar effort.
Some more excellent finishes from Padraig who scored twice to complete his hat-trick and Colin who is improving with every game he plays left us well in control and heading to the semi final of the cup.
We conceded a goal in the middle of the half when we failed to clear a ball in our box which seems to be a regular problem for this team.
Shane had a very good game in goals and cleared his lines and organised the back four really well. Sean and David came on in the second half and both lads did very well. We await the draw with interest.
A special mention for Fergal who is recovering from an injury. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back in the squad for the remainder of the season.
