The Park lads began their league campaign last Saturday afternoon away to the newly promoted Division 1 champions from last season Killarney Athletic. Athletic were coming off a good result against their local rivals Celtic so the Park lads were taking nothing for granted.
The lads started at a fierce pace moving the ball with conviction but it took the 14th min before they could unlock the defence a long ball from Leo to Mervin to slid the ball past the keeper, 4 mins later a replica goal from Mervin, this time Sean was the provider and the park were 2-0 up. The home side were battling hard and it wasn’t til the 34th min that the goal of the day came from Colin, a quick one touch movement from Sean to Junior to Colin unlocked the defence, 3-0 to the park at the break.
The park lads started the 2nd half with venom and within 3 mins had opened up a 5-0 lead with goals from Sean and Mervin completing his hatrick. The next 10 min period was all the home side punishing the park defence to bag a couple of goals to improve the score line 5-2. This was a wake up call to the Park lads and as the home side tired the Park closed the game out with goals from Sean (hitting 4 on the day), Leo and Liam to a final score line of 10-2.

Man of the Match: Darra Heim – 100% work rate from start to finish battled superbly and distribution was immense, a fine start to his debut in the Park colours.

Reminder: Training times next couple of weeks will be Mon 6.45 – 8pm and Thurs 6.15- 7.30pm. We have a crucial SFAI cup game coming up at home to Askeaton so if the squad is to progress further and improve on last season, all players need to attend all training sessions!!
