We had two games last Saturday at home in Christy Leahy Park. First up was our Group 1 team against Killorglin FC. It was a big turnaround for us from the start of the season when we went down by a few goals, but due to the great effort put in by these boys in the last weeks, the outcome was reversed.
We started very lively with great work-rate and our opener coming from the boot of Padraig McCannon with a Steven Gerrard like volley. Our second came from full back Ali with a spectacular long range effort.
Killorglin struck back soon after but credit to our boys we didn’t panic and again began to play some neat passing football which resulted in Sebastian notching our third with a brilliant header that would have made his hero Messi proud.
On the day our Captain James Sheahan at left back was outstanding along with James Rusk, Alfie Christie, Darragh, Conor, Brian, Stephen and Eoghan.
Well done to all and also to Killorglin FC for a great game.
Our second game involved our Group 2 versus Behy Rovers. The wind got very strong for this game and as a result it was a game of two halves. We started with the wind and dominated from the start with great work from Mark and Dylan but just couldn’t find the net.
The second half was always going to be tough and even though Adi, Alex, Simon , Sampson, Sean, Cillian and Cian tried hard, we conceded a few but Tyreece did get us one back with a super strike.
All players can be proud of their performance and their never-say-die attitude.
A special mention to the Referee for handling both games on her first day as a match official and to all the parents who lent their support on the day.
